We are The Iron Ladies of Africa - TILOA is a non-profit organization based in Africa with its head office in Kampala –Uganda. We ignite change identifying and recruiting the strongest candidates, training and supporting their successful campaigns. We study the culture of the electorate and turn up in masses to vote for our candidate.
We seek to put women into office who can make significant
contributions to women's communities by advocating for women's employment, better
Medicare, voting rights, economic equality, and many more
At TILOA, we are determined to polish and change that narrative
that has largely condemned women to the background. We want to give ambitious
and prosperous women the loudest megaphone in this digital age precisely
because we know the cost of silence.
We support our women from start to finish because we know these
races are tough and challenging. We research, communicate our candidates'
ideas to voters, mobilize strategies, and vote in the masses.
The group's mission is to cultivate a donor network to raise money for female candidates for elective offices and also support outreach programs in institutions like schools where the girl child will be motivated to join and pursue leadership roles.
As TILOA, we chose to focus on raising funds for the women because they were initially not getting sufficient funds from their respective political parties and thus were not winning races even if they were qualified. TILOA felt that funding sourced earlier could help convince people that their campaigns were credible and would help them in the offices.
Our Vision
Our Vision is to establish a social network across the continent. With the globalization trend where the world is reduced to one village, we do believe that our core target of reaching out to all women the world over will be hit. Our founder Madam Beatrice Kayanja, who pioneered the organization stated that "creating progressive policies will never be implemented unless enough gracious and powerful women are elected that support them".
